For this reason its fruits are even more precious. Try this tomato sauce with fresh basil on spaghetti, or for any recipe that calls for tomatoes. If you like, try it uncooked on Tuscan country bread (or bread from Apulia), with a drop of olive oil, a bit of rosemary, and a few grains of coarse salt.
